Specialised services for victims of Gender-Based Violence
Social Justice (SJ) was established in January 2016 and was formally registered as a Non-profit Organisation (NPO 218-845). Its purpose is to address Gender Based Violence & Femicide (GBV&F), which has become endemic in black communities and South African society at large.
While the scourge of GBV&F is national in scope, it is particularly prevalent in the larger Soweto area, which — given its cultural, ethnic and class diversity – is a microcosm of South African society. Social Justive focuses particularly on the community and geographic area of Dobsonville, which displays many of the causes and tragic manifestations of GBV&F.
We are also providing community support during the Covid-19 lockdown in the form of food parcels, blankets, other essential consumables, as well as electricity coupons.
